Neil Smith

President of the Consumer Packaged Goods, Schneider Electric

Neil is a proud Chartered Engineer at heart and has extensive industry experience across multiple industries and geographies, he has worked within endusers, engineering and technology companies from  consulting and project engineering to running international and global businesses. Neil graduated in the UK with an Honors Degree in Electronic and Electric engineering and started his career with a global Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company in 1996 where he developed knowledge and expertise in international projects. In his role as a systems engineer in designing, building, and commissioning, he supported various industrial projects including energy, chemical plants, food & beverage plants and life sciences plants, this provide an amazing grounding on what these industries care about in the capital investment phase, but also what they care about at the transition into the operational phase. After working for UK Air Traffic and Control Services he moved to Australia in 2004 to work as a Project Design Manager working national infrastructure projects. In 2006 Neil joined Rockwell Automation and was responsible for the Manufacturing and Process Solutions in Australia and New Zealand. In 2009 he moved to Singapore to lead the Southern Asia Pacific Systems and Solutions business of  Rockwell Automation.  He moved back to UK in 2012 to undertake a global position within Rockwell Automation’s O&G business and in 2014 he moved back to Australia to join Invensys, and Neil Joined Schneider Electric through their acquisition of Invensys the same year. After leading the Invensys business during the 12 month integration phase he became the head of Process Automation within Schneider Electric’s Australia and New Zealand business, 12 months later he added responsibility for the Industrial Software business and In 2017 Neil was promoted to VP Industry in Australia and New Zealand.  Just two years later he was subsequently promoted to SVP for the Process Automation business for Asia Pacific across the moved to Singapore and took over the role for Process Automation business across Asia. Neil started his current global role in 2023 as Segment President for Consumer Packaged Goods segment. Therefore, he moved from Singapore to Switzerland. In his new role, he will create, promote and support the unique solutions portfolio from Schneider Electric, AVEVA, ProLeiT and many others that fit the very specific needs of all subsegments within Consumers Packages Goods sector. He is passionate about technology and its role in helping address climate change, he is optimistic that through the greater use of technology and by taking a leading role in digital transformation journey of the Industry to help all parties from end users, Process OEMs, OEMs to System Integrators to making the industry more efficient, profitable and sustainable
